Air New Zealand is leading the way on sustainability with a comprehensive strategy aimed at “supercharging” New Zealand’s success.
The company faces a range of challenges including minimising carbon emissions, ensuring that the tourism industry grows sustainably, and that infrastructure keeps pace with visitor growth.
It is determined to deliver more sustainable outcomes and has a number of initiatives underway; from working with aviation industry experts to improve aviation fuel efficiency and develop stronger international climate policy, to reducing inflight waste, and working with its vast supply chain and other New Zealand businesses on initiatives such as enhanced electric vehicle uptake.
Air New Zealand firmly believes business must take a leadership role in tackling sustainability challenges, and this underpins its sustainability framework.
It also supports New Zealand’s indigenous biodiversity and scientific research, working with the Department of Conservation and iwi partners to support six biodiversity projects on New Zealand’s Great Walks, as well as supporting endangered species transfers and marine reserve monitoring.
